LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

Letter from the Raffaele
Maccioni, DSA President

Decision-making is an essential tool that humans use to achieve goals and realize dreams, regardless of their context or role. Whether in personal life, managing a non-profit or a business, in politics, regulation, or coaching sports, decision-making is at the core of progress. This is equally true for physicians caring for patients, biologists designing new drugs, or engineers developing electric cars.

As co-founders and leaders of the Decision Science Alliance (DSA), we are driven by a shared passion for the sciences and methodologies behind decision-making models, artificial intelligence, and more. Our mission is to help people make better decisions—decisions that lead to progress, health, sustainability, reduced risks, and resilience.

When we embarked on this journey, we aimed to bridge the gap between research and practical application. Our focus has been on Europe, with a vision to inspire researchers to align their work with societal needs and to help people and organizations adopt advanced decision-making methodologies and technologies more effectively.

Despite the growing presence of autonomous decision-making systems, such as robots and self-driving cars, humans remain—and should remain—at the center of decision-making processes. The equilibrium between human judgment and technological assistance is a result of decisions that we, as humans, continue to make.

On behalf of the DSA Board, I extend our heartfelt thanks to all DSA Ambassadors, Partners, and Sponsors for their unwavering support. Your contributions are vital to our mission of enhancing decision-making processes across various domains.
